Rick Hamilton is an award-winning filmmaker whose short films, including "Choices," "The Fear Inside" and "Matchgirl" have screened around the world. He directed the Off-Broadway shows A Will to Live, based on the memoirs of Holocaust survivor Helena Weinrauch, and Fabulous! The Queen of New Musical Comedies. His work Off-Off Broadway includes What Passes for Comedy, Georgie D., Geeks! The Musical and Sophia. He has aided in developing shows and directed staged readings of Candy Hearts, Members of the Choir, Sarah was Mine and A Retail Carol. Rick also directed the steampunk burlesque cabaret Suave and the Boner, which has been performed in Ohio and repeat engagements in NYC at The Duplex (Original Cast Album available on iTunes).
Rick has performed worldwide on the tours of Oklahoma!, Camelot and Beauty and the Beast. In New York, he played John Jasper in the Gallery Players’ acclaimed production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood and was half dinosaur in the NYC Fringe production of Escape from Pterodactyl Island. Favorite roles include James in the original workshop production of The Last Sunday in June; Frankie in Forever Plaid and Ty in Sordid Lives at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre; Jesus in Godspell, Tony in West Side Story and the title roles in Joseph… and Pippin at the Bucks County Playhouse.
After a career of performing on and directing for the stage, Rick transitioned to filmmaking. He graduated from The New School with a BFA in Musical Theatre with a Minor in Film Production. His intent is to marry the two art forms, making films with a sense of theatricality and exploring the relationship of cinematography and choreography.
